What are Republic FC Academy’s age groups?
For the 2024-2025 season, the age groups are as follows.Please note that players can compete in older age groups if our Academy staff believes that it is best for their development.
Our U-12 Center of Excellence Program is part-time, allowing those players involved to receive supplemental training and stay fully committed to their respective club team.
- U-12 Center of Excellence Program – Born in 2011 or younger
- U-13 – Born in 2010 or younger
- U-14 – Born in 2009
- U-15 – Born in 2008
- U-17 – Born in 2006 and 2007
What league does Republic FC Academy participate in?
Republic FC Academy competes in the highest level of youth soccer in North America – MLS NEXT – providing a professional tier, high-level development environment to the region’s top players and teams. Since its effective replacement of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy system, which operated from 2007-2020, MLS NEXT has attracted 133 local clubs – home to 90% of U.S. Soccer’s national team player pool – and operates yearly postseason and showcase competitions in addition to the regular season running from September to May.
How long is the Academy season? How many games per season?
Each Academy team plays approximately 40-50 games over the course of the year dependent on the age group. Our season is around 10-months, from August to the end of June (or July depending on post-season). Clubs will break at specific moments to ensure each player receives adequate rest.
When does Republic FC Academy training begin?
Republic FC Academy training will begin in August and run through the end of June/July for the 2024-2025 season.
What are the training expectations for Republic FC’s Academy?
The Republic FC Academy is a full-time program consisting of approximately four training sessions per week, in addition to weekly games over the 10-month competitive season.
Can Academy players participate in other soccer programs?
Academy players will not be permitted to participate in additional programs unless agreed upon mutually with the Academy Director. Our players are permitted and encouraged to participate in National Team programs.
