Sacramento Republic FC and UC Davis Children’s Hospital are teaming up to collect art supplies at Republic FC’s home match against San Antonio FC on Saturday August 6. The match is Rhythm and Hue Night presented by UC Davis Children’s Hospital.
Art supplies and toys collected at the August 6 match will be donated to the Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department at UC Davis Children’s Hospital. The department provides support and age-appropriate coping strategies to hospitalized children and their families through art, music and games.
The following new and unwrapped items are requested:
- Elmer’s Glue™ sticks
- Playskool™ brand Playdoh
- Paint by number sets
- Sharpie™ pen sets
- Felt coloring posters
- Kids’ medical play kits
- Infant toys
- Model cars
- Crossword puzzle books
- Sudoku books
- Word search books
Republic FC fans may drop off new, unwrapped toys or art supplies at the main entrance of Bonney Field prior to the Republic FC vs San Antonio FC match on Saturday, August 6.
“Our department operates solely through generous donations from our community,” said UC Davis Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department Manager Diana Sundberg. “We are grateful that Sacramento Republic FC and their supporters will be helping to bring in some much-needed supplies for the children staying in our hospital.”
Those unable to attend the August 6 match can still show their support for the Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department by dropping off their donations at Republic FC Headquarters and Team Store, located at 2421 17th Street, today through August 8. The Team Store is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Fans may also purchase items from the department’s online wish list. Items will be shipped directly to the hospital.
Since the 2014 season, Republic FC fans have donated approximately 1,000 art supply items and toys to UC Davis Children’s Hospital.
