This week, get to know Sacramento Republic FC defenders Chris Christian and Jeremy Hall.
Chris Christian
1. What is your go-to vegetable and why?
Probably carrots. They are easy and you can make them multiple ways. You can eat them raw on the go, steam them, roast them with seasoning. A ton of possibilities and they are always great.
2. What was your favorite subject in school and why?
It changed over the years. When I was young, it was math, but as I got older it I learned I was a good writer, so then it was English. I liked the creative writing side and I also enjoyed reading philosophers and seeing how they spoke their mind.
3. If a movie was made about your life, what actor would play you?
I don’t think there’s an actor who could play me – they would have to just call me to do it.
4. What is your favorite technical soccer drill—during training or on your own—and why?
That’s easy: juggling on my own. I did it all the time as a kid, it’s what helped me gain comfort on the ball.
5. What’s the biggest obstacle you’ve overcome in your journey to becoming a professional soccer player?
I had two back-to-back ACL surgeries, one on my right and one on my left. They were in 2010 and 2011, my senior year and fifth year in college. Faith and love of the game really kept me going to come back after my surgeries.

1. You’re new to Sacramento, what are you most excited for about being here?
I’m most excited to play this weekend. I’ve known a few guys who have played on the team before, so I’ve seen games and highlights online and know it’s an awesome fanbase. I’m really excited to finally witness it live and be a part of it.
2. What is the first thing Republic FC fans should know about you?
I’m a hardworking blue-collar guy. I’m going to give it everything I can to help the team earn wins and hopefully that leads to a championship.
3. What’s your favorite meal of the day and why?
I’d have to say breakfast. You can eat it anytime of the day, including for dinner.
4. What’s the best piece of soccer advice you’ve ever received?
Back when I was with New York [Red Bulls] in 2010, our coach told us you will always have those games that aren’t always your best game—you have giveaways, make mistakes, etc.—but you can always work hard. So I always try to give it my all every match on the ball and on defense.
5. Describe your daily matchday routine to us. Do you have any matchday superstitions?
My routine is different for home and away matches. When I’m at home—I wouldn’t say I’m OCD—but I like to always clean my apartment, do my laundry, vacuum, etc. just to get moving. When I’m on the road, it’s more about killing time in the hotel, hanging with the guys, maybe getting in a small workout and getting relaxed before the match.
