As a part of this Saturday’s Farm-to-Fork Night presented by Raley’s and UC Davis Children’s Hospital, Sacramento Republic FC are teaming up with Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services to host a food drive at their final regular season match.
As a local non-profit, Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services works to help families in need work toward self-sufficiency and financial independence. Each month, the organization provides free emergency goods and services to approximately 150,000 men, women and children throughout the Sacramento region.
Republic FC will be collecting healthy, non-perishable food items before their match vs LA Galaxy II on Sept. 17 at Bonney Field. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. Fans may also bring their donation items to Republic FC Headquarters and Team Store during normal business hours throughout the week.
In each of their three seasons, Republic FC have hosted food drives for Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services at various matches. To-date, fans have donated approximately 3,000 pounds of food to help local families in need.
Donation bins at Saturday’s match will be located outside the main Bonney Field gates, beginning at 6 p.m. Alternatively, fans can drop off their donations to Republic FC Headquarters and Team Store, located at 2421 17th Street, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The following items are requested by Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services for donations:
- Whole wheat pasta
- Canned fruits, vegetables, beans, meat, tuna, chicken, etc.
- Dry grains and beans
- Low-sugar/high fiber cereals
- Snack bars
- Fruit cups
- Peanut butter
- Nuts
- Soups
- Juices
