Republic FC and La Familia Counseling Center, with the support of AARP California, are partnering to host a walk-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Tuesday, November 30, 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Maple Neighborhood Center in South Sacramento. The clinic will offer both COVID-19 vaccinations and booster shots to everyone ages five and up, and services are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
While the clinic is open to people of all ages, there will be a special emphasis on children who only recently became eligible for vaccination. On November 2, the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices officially authorized and recommended COVID-19 vaccinations for children five to 11 years old. According to the CDC, COVID-19 cases in children can result in hospitalizations, deaths, and long-term complications.
Adults will also be able to receive their COVID-19 vaccination or booster shot at the clinic. All adults 18 and older became eligible for COVID-19 booster shots on November 19, with the CDC now recommending boosters for everyone who is eligible. Those who received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine are eligible at least six months after completing the primary vaccination series, while those who received Johnson & Johnson are eligible at least two months after vaccination.
Anyone is welcome regardless of insurance, ability to pay, or legal status. The only requirement is a form of identification that includes name and date of birth. Those receiving a booster shot must bring their CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record card.
Republic FC youth coaches will be onsite 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. to host pick-up games, drills, and other fun soccer activities at the Maple Park Futsal Courts right across the street. Additionally, the first 50 children in attendance will receive a free soccer ball. The courts were refurbished in 2019 by Republic FC with the support of Bank of America and City Councilmember Jay Schenirer.
Throughout the year, Republic FC has remained committed to supporting community vaccinations. Through a partnership with Urgent Care Now and Equivax, the club’s home stadium served as a pop-up vaccine clinic at three Republic FC home matches, with all vaccine participants receiving two match tickets.
