Sacramento, Calif – On Monday, USL Championship announced that Republic FC forward Russell Cicerone has been nominated for Fan’s Choice Goal of the Week. Voting is open now through 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 1 at USLChampionship.com, as well as on Twitter, Instagram Stories, and the USL App.
Cicerone kicked off the scoring in Republic FC’s 4-1 win over Hartford with a precision strike in the 19th minute. Midfielder Luis Felipe threaded a pass that would break defensive lines and set Cicerone up for a one-touch strike early in the match. The goal is Russell’s 9th on the season – leaving him tied for the league lead – and his 50th USL Championship regular season goal.
This is Cicerone’s second nomination for the league’s top weekly score this season. His first of his three goals scored in a hat trick against Indy Eleven on May 13 was among the league’s top scores in Week 10.
Fans can register to vote now at USLChampionship.com or on the USL App. Voting is open now through Thursday, May 25 at 9:00 a.m.
Republic FC continues its three-game road trip with another East Coast tilt this coming Saturday, when the club takes to Florida to face the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
