The boys in Old Glory Red begin their pursuit for FIFA glory on May 4 at 5:30 p.m. PT, and they’ll be doing so as the 21-seed with Mexico, having been handed the international juggernaut during Friday’s live draw. 

Mexico, a 4-star rating in FIFA20, will be the nation Republic FC will compete with for the entirety of the Playstation 4 tournament. Representing the Indomitable Club in the virtual competition are current SRFC players and the club’s experienced FIFA gamers Juan Barahona, Rafael Diaz and Ashkanov Apollon.

El Tri’s offense is a dangerous one and without a doubt the national team’s greatest strength. Anchoring the front lines are forward Raul Jimenez and Hirving Lozano, both being big names who regularly make an impact for their top tier European clubs. 

The SRFC trio each have plenty of playing experience under their belts and look forward to putting those skills on display. All of the club’s matches will be streamed live on the club’s Twitch stream, twitch.tv/SacramentoRepublicFC/. The club’s opening match against Memphis 901 FC, joining the competition as international side Austria, will be a must watch! Tune in at 5:30 p.m. PT.

“I am blown away, not only by the incredible piano skills but that voice and there’s so much power and emotion,” said MLS Host Susannah Collins.  ”He took us on a little journey, I mean I was transported when he was singing! Then he gets into that little ‘falsetto’ at the top, it was beautiful.”

Former team mate Boswell noted, “He has the pipes and he brings it every time he sings. I was so happy that I saw he was going to be on today because he has a real talent the world needs to see, I’m glad he’s getting the chance to show it.”

Match play will begin with a weeklong Qualifying Bracket stage beginning on May 4. 

Teams will be randomly assigned a premier international squad to compete with throughout the tournament. After the opening qualifying week, three divisions will be formed for weekly promotion / relegation stage play.

During matches, fans will have the opportunity to contribute to the club’s Indomitable Hands non-profit partner Raley’s Food For Families. 100% of all donations will be used to donate additional meals to vulnerable, home-bound seniors. Throughout April, the club has raised over $55,000 and delivered over 6,000 meals. The club is still accepting nominations and donations the Indomitable Hands page.

With kitchen tables becoming classrooms and screen shares substituting for blackboards, educators are adapting and innovating to bring kids together during stay-at-home orders. After a few weeks without having the resources connected to the classroom, virtual sessions are allowing teachers to reconnect with students and inspire them with new lessons.
